প্রেসক্রিপশন বুঝতে


চিকিৎসকের প্রেসক্রিপশন পড়ে ওষুধ বের করার কাজটা পুরোপুরি ফার্মেসী কর্মীর ওপর ছেড়ে দেয়াটা বুদ্ধিমানের কাজ নয়। কারণ ছোট একটি ভুলের জন্য অনেক বড় মাশুল দিতে হতে পারে।

সাধারণত চিকিৎসকগণ কিছু ল্যাটিন শব্দের সংক্ষিপ্ত রূপ ব্যবহার করে প্রেসক্রিপশন লেখেন।  সচেতন রোগী হিসেবে প্রেসক্রিপশন লেখার সময়ই এগুলো বুঝে নেয়ার চেষ্টা করা উচিত। সেটা সম্ভব না হলে সহকারীর কাছ থেকে বুঝে নেয়া উচিত। কাজেই ছোটখাট কোন ভুল হয়ে থাকলে এ পর্যায়ে সেটা ধরা পড়ে।

তাছাড়া অতীতে কোন ওষুধে রোগীর গুরুতর কোন পার্শ্বপ্রতিক্রিয়ার ইতিহাস থাকলে সেটাও সাথে সাথে জানালে চিকিৎসক ওষুধ বদলে দিতে পারেন।

কোন ওষুধ চলাকালীন সময়ে মারাত্নক পার্শ্বপ্রতিক্রিয়া দেখা দিলে সেটাও চিকিৎসককে জানানো উচিত।

ওষুধ কেনা:
অনেক চিকিৎসক প্রেসক্রিপশন টাইপ করিয়ে দেন, কিন্তু অধিকাংশই হাতে লিখে দেন। হাতে লেখা প্রেসক্রিপশনটি পড়ে সঠিক মাত্রার সঠিক ওষুধটি দেয়া হচ্ছে কিনা সেটা সচেতন রোগীমাত্রই সতর্কতার সাথে মিলিয়ে দেখতে চাইবেন।

আবার ওষুধ কখন, কিভাবে খেতে হবে সেটা বোঝাও জরুরি। এজন্য বহুল ব্যবহৃত শব্দ সংক্ষেপগুলো সহায়ক হতে পারে।

ওষুধ না পাওয়া গেলে:
ওষুধের তিন ধরনের নামের কথা বলা যায়: কেমিকেল নেম বা রাসায়নিক নাম, জেনেরিক নেম এবং ব্র্যান্ড নেম। কেমিকেল নেম রসায়ন শাস্ত্রের দৃষ্টিকোণ থেকে রাসায়নিক গঠনের ওপর ভিত্তি করে হয়। আর জেনেরিক নেম ঐ রাসায়নিকের প্রচলিত নাম। অন্যদিকে একটি ওষুধ বাজারজাত করার সময় সংশ্লিষ্ট কোম্পানী একটি নাম দেয়, এটিই ব্র্যান্ড নেম।

যেমন: প্যারাসিটামল হচ্ছে জেনেরিক নেম, আর নাপা, এইস ইত্যাদি ব্র্যান্ড নেম। অর্থাৎ নাপা কিংবা এইস সেবনের অর্থ একই। কাজেই চিকিৎসকের লেখা ব্র্যান্ড নেমের ওষুধ না পাওয়া গেলে একই জেনেরিক নেম ও ক্ষমতার অন্য ওষুধ কেনা যেতে পারে। তবে অনেকসময় চিকিৎসকগণ নির্দিষ্ট একটি ব্র্যান্ড নেমের ওষুধই যে সেবন করতে হবে সেটা লিখে দেন।
